Duplex Motor Car Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company was founded in Chicago , Illinois in the summer of 1907 . It belonged to the Bendix Company . In 1908 the production of automobiles began. The brand name was Duplex . Production ended in 1909.

All vehicles had an air-cooled two-cylinder engine that drove the rear axle via two friction gears and two drive shafts. The rear axle also had two differentials .

In 1908 there were three highwheelers in the range. What they had in common was the wheelbase of 224 cm. No. 1 had an engine with 10 hp . He was bodied as a Stanhope . No. 2 differed only in the 15 HP engine. No. 3 was a Surrey with the more powerful engine.

In 1909 the lower-built Type B was on offer. The engine developed 20 hp. The chassis now had a 229 cm wheelbase. The structure was four seats and was a touring car - roadster called. An illustration also shows a Model A as a four-seater touring car.
