Owen Motor Car Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Ralph R. Owen, Angus Smith, and Frank E. Robson founded the company in January 1910. The seat was in Detroit , Michigan . They started with the production of automobiles. The brand name was Owen .

They realized that production on the one hand and sales on the other were two different problems. Ralph Owen contacted his brother Raymond M. Owen, who sold Reo Motor Car Company vehicles with his RM Owen & Company .

In October 1910, Reo bought the Owen Motor Car Company. The three owners received shares in return. Reo assembled 35 vehicles from existing parts, which were sold through Reo dealers. In 1911, the production of Owen brand vehicles ended . The Detroit plant was taken over by the Krit Motor Car Company .

Ralph and Raymond Owen later founded the Owen Magnetic Motor Car Corporation , makers of the Owen Magnetic .

The only model was the 50 HP . It had a four-cylinder engine . A bore of 120.65 mm and a stroke of 152.4 mm resulted in a displacement of 6969 cc and an output of 50 hp . The chassis had a 305 cm wheelbase . The 42- inch tires were striking . The selector lever for the manual transmission in the center of the vehicle was progressive .

There was a choice of touring cars , close-coupled touring cars, and runabouts for $ 3,200 each . There was also a sedan for $ 4,800.
