Fischer Motor Vehicle Company , emerged from the CJ Fischer Company , was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The CJ Fischer Company was founded in Detroit , Michigan in 1913 . In December 1913, it took part in the Grand Central Palace Automobile Show in New York City . The vehicles were sold as Fischer-Detroit .

In November 1914 the company moved to York , Pennsylvania . The new company name was Fischer Motor Vehicle Company . However, vehicle production no longer took place here. A little later, the bankruptcy followed .

There was only one basic model on offer. The water-cooled four - cylinder engine came from Perkins . It had a bore of 69.85 mm , a stroke of 101.6 mm , a displacement of 1557 cm³ and an output of 12 hp . It drove the rear axle via a three-speed gearbox and a cardan shaft . The V-shaped grille was striking . The chassis had a wheelbase of 264 cm . A two-seater Speedster , a two-seater convertible , a two-seater tourist and a four-seater sedan were available as superstructures . The original price of $ 845 for the sedan is said to be cheap in one source.

A picture of a speedster is labeled Model A. Two other sources name Model A as a Speedster, Model B as a touring car , Model C as a convertible, each with two seats, and Model D as a tourist and Model E as a sedan, each with four seats.
