Kreider Machine Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company was based in Lancaster , Pennsylvania . In 1905, the production of automobiles began under the direction of Enos K. Kreider. The brand name was K & M . Motor vehicle production ended in the same year. The company was only dissolved in 1913.

The only model was a high wheeler with solid rubber tires . It had a two-cylinder engine in the middle of the vehicle. It had 18 hp and drove the rear axle via a two-speed gearbox and a chain. The chassis had a wheelbase of 259 cm . The open body offered space for four people on two bench seats. The rear bench could be removed to transport goods. What was unusual was that the vehicle could be used as a drive source for equipment. Wood saws, water pumps and corn mills are mentioned.
