Whiteside Wheel Company was an American company in the field of automobiles .

Company history

The first known mentions are two patents dated March 11, 1902 and October 27, 1902. According to the patents, the headquarters were in Grand Rapids , Michigan at the time .

In 1909 the seat was in Indianapolis , Indiana . There began the production of automobiles, designed by Marlon E. Vaughn. The brand name was Vaughn . Vehicle production ended in the same year. Vaughn later headed Vaughn . Another US manufacturer of passenger cars of the brand Vaughn was the Irving Automobile Company .

After 1917 the track of the company is lost.

The only model was a high wheeler . The wheels were 38 inches tall. This made it suitable for the bad roads of the time. The two-cylinder engine came from the Beaver Manufacturing Company . It drove the rear axle via a friction transmission developed in-house.
