Orson Automobile Manufacturing Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles . Other sources use the Orson Automobile Company name .

history

Orson Kilborn came up with the idea and gave it its name. His father, Horace M. Kilborn, was President or Vice President of the National City Bank of New York . 100 wealthy bankers banded together in 1910 to produce 100 vehicles. Mr. Vanderlip, Alwin W. Krech, HO Havemeyer and Percy Avery Rockefeller are named . It was reported on March 11, 1910, and the name Orson Automobile Manufacturing Company was named. The Brightwood Manufacturing Company of Springfield , Massachusetts made the chassis . The bodies came from the Springfield Metal Body Company . In 1911 the vehicles for the bankers were ready. Or maybe there were only 80 vehicles. Then the vehicle should come on the market.

It wasn't until 1912 that the Orson Automobile Manufacturing Company was founded. The seat was in New York City . In 1913 there were plans to take over the two aforementioned companies, as well as the Atlas Motor Car Company and the Knox Automobile Company . That could not be implemented.

In 1914 journalists became aware of the matter. They found that 80 vehicles were made at a cost of $ 560,000 . In 1915 Daniel M. Brady, one of the owners, was tried in court.

As far as is known, no more vehicles have been manufactured since 1912.

vehicles

Only one model was on offer. It had a four-cylinder engine that made 40 hp . The chassis had a wheelbase of 330 cm . The vehicles were bodied as open touring cars .

Another source names a 30-66 for $ 2,500 on the one hand and a Forty HP as a seven-seat touring car for $ 4,000 on the other .
