Beardsley Electric Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Volney S. Beardsley had previous automotive experience with Beardsley & Hobbs Company and Auto Vehicle Company . On August 29, 1913, he founded his own company in Los Angeles , California . Watt Moreland was vice president and John T. Shannon was the designer. In 1914 the production of automobiles began. The brand name was Beardsley . In 1915 the company moved to Culver City , also in California. 40 people were employed at the time. The lack of parts due to the First World War and the declining interest in electric cars led to its demise. The company's last advertisement appeared in February 1917. Production ended a little later. A total of 661 vehicles were built.

The Moreland Motor Truck Company took over the company.

Only electric cars were on offer. The performance of the electric motors has not been handed down. The range was over 160 km. Over the years there have been different models and structures. The wheelbases are not known.
