Liberty Motor Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Joseph A. Anglada designed a small vehicle in January 1914. He then founded the company in New York City and began producing automobiles. The brand name was Liberty . Production ended in the same year. In total, only a few vehicles were built.

There was no connection with the Liberty Motor Car Company , which a few years later used the same brand name.

The prototype has been referred to as a cyclecar , although it is unclear whether it met the criteria. An air-cooled V2 engine drove the rear axle via a friction gear and two pulleys. The chassis had a wheelbase of 234 cm and a track width of 107 cm . The open roadster offered space for two people side by side.

A four-cylinder engine with a bore of 69.85 mm , a stroke of 101.6 mm , a displacement of 1557 cm³ and an output of 12 hp has been delivered for the series version . The empty weight was 340 kg. The vehicle cost 375 US dollars .
