Electra Manufacturing Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Henry M. Crowther, Jules E. Haschke, James F. Lane, Stewart L. Rothrock and James B. Sturdevant founded the company on April 10, 1914. The company was based in Los Angeles , California . William Piddington was president. They started producing automobiles in the same year. The brand name was Electra . Vehicle production ended in 1915. Batteries continued to emerge. After 1915 the track of the company is lost.

There was no connection with the Storage Battery Power Company from Chicago , which also sold vehicles as Electra .

There were two different electric cars on offer . Both were powered by an electric motor. The Model C had a 229 cm wheelbase and a body as a two-seater roadster without doors. The range was given as 64 km. The original price was 750 US dollars .

The Model D had a chassis with 244 cm wheelbase and the same structure, but with two doors. A more powerful battery enabled a range of 120 km. The vehicle cost $ 1,250.
