Dakota was an American automobile brand.

Brand history

The brothers Alexander and John More ran a trading business at Wimbledon , North Dakota , since the mid-1890s . They sold farm equipment to farmers . 1904 sales came from automobiles by Continental , Demot , Lambert , National , Richmond , Westcott and White do so. In 1910 there was a collaboration with the De Tamble Motor Company . A source states that the brothers took over the production of a model from De Tamble. The brand name was Dakota . In February of the same year a vehicle was presented at the first North Dakota Motor Show. Marketing ended in September 1910.

A total of 25 vehicles were built. Seven of these vehicles were registered in North Dakota. One source states that not every buyer had their vehicle properly registered at the time.

The only model broadly in the De Tamble Model B . Instead of the 30- inch pneumatic tires , the vehicles had 36-inch solid rubber tires . Solid tires should be more durable. A two-cylinder engine propelled the vehicles. The new price was $ 675, $ 25 more than the original.

By comparison, a Ford Model T cost $ 650 that year in the cheapest version.
