Monarch Machine Company was an American manufacturer of engines and automobiles .

Company history

The company was based in Des Moines , Iowa . Mainly it manufactured gasoline engines. In 1908 a number of automobiles were also made. The brand name was Monarch . After April 1909 the track of the company is lost.

Other US manufacturers of passenger cars of the brand Monarch were Milwaukee Motor Manufacturing Company , Monarch Automobile Company , Monarch Motor Car Company (Illinois) and Monarch Motor Car Company (Michigan) .

The Road King was a motor buggy on offer. He had noticeably large wheels and can therefore be described as a high wheeler . The chassis had a wheelbase of 213 cm . The self-made two-cylinder engine developed 20 hp . It drove the rear axle via a planetary gear and two chains. Steering lever and steering wheel were available. The Model D is explicitly mentioned as an open four-seater. One illustration shows the same model as an open two-seater.
