Company history

The brothers William H. and Clarence Hunt founded the company in 1904. The seat was in San Diego , California . They were the first dealership in town and they had a deal with Ford . They only sold one Ford in the first two years. It should be noted that the Ford Model T was not yet on the market. They made two-stroke engines for the Great Western Motor Car Company , which only made a prototype .

They also repaired automobiles. A commercial vehicle was built in 1905 and a passenger car in 1910 . It was called Hunt Special .

In October 1909, Clarence Hunt died in a car accident. After 1910 the track of the company is lost.

vehicles

In 1905 a delivery van was built . A baker from the same town bought it.

One of her workshop's best customers was Arnie Babcock. He often had to drive from Ensenada , Mexico to San Diego for business reasons . His vehicles were not stable enough for the bad roads and often had to be repaired. In 1909 he commissioned the brothers to build a stable vehicle for him. In 1910 the vehicle was ready. The price was 16,000 US dollars . Babcock died before he could drive the vehicle. His widow resold it. The vehicle still exists.

The vehicle has a four-cylinder engine with OHV valve control . It drives the rear axle via a three-speed gearbox and two chains. The chassis has a 292 cm wheelbase and 152 cm track width . The structure is an open touring car with space for five people.
