The Willys-Knight was a car brand under which various automobiles were manufactured by Willys in Toledo (Ohio) from 1914 to 1933 .

description

John North Willys bought the Edwards Motor Car Company on Long Island, New York , in 1913 and relocated its operations to Elyria, Ohio , where Willys owned a factory that formerly built the Garford automobiles. Production began with a four-cylinder model that cost around US $ 2,500. The Willys-Knight had slide engines , mainly four- and six-cylinder.

In 1915 Willys moved production to Toledo, Ohio, but continued to manufacture engines in Elyria. In 1917, Willys-Knight introduced a V8 valve engine, which was built until 1920.

From 1922 Willys-Knight built around 50,000 cars a year. Willys also bought Stearns-Knight in Cleveland, Ohio , which also built valve motors, and made the brand a crown jewel of his growing automotive empire.

Production of the Willys-Knight automobiles ended in November 1932 (1933 model year) when Willys-Overland was in the settlement process and stopped making expensive cars and instead focused on producing the cheap but sturdy Willys 77 .
