The Naturmuseum Winterthur is a museum in Winterthur in the Swiss canton of Zurich . It is located in the same building as the Kunstmuseum Winterthur.

It emerged from the Natural Science Collections in Winterthur, founded in 1916. a. to the private collection of Johann Heinrich Ziegler and his son Jakob (1775–1863).

It was reopened as the Naturmuseum Winterthur in 2005 after three years of construction under conservator Hans-Konrad Schmutz. In 2006, the Naturmuseum Winterthur received the Swiss Prix ​​Expo for "entering new museological territory" and "dedusting scientific content" (from the jury's statement).

In 2007 the museum was nominated for the European Museum of the Year Award , which it did not receive.
