Detroit Steam Motor Corporation was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

OC Trask founded the company on December 1, 1921. Its headquarters were in Detroit , Michigan . In 1922 the production of automobiles began. The Schlieder Manufacturing Company was initially involved. The brand name was officially Trask-Detroit . However, Trask and Trask Steam have also survived. In mid-1922 there were plans to name vehicles for export to Canada Windsor and even to set up their own production company Windsor Steam Motors in Canada, but nothing came of that. In 1923 Trask wanted to change the brand name in the USA to Detroit Steam Car . However, it didn't come to that. Production ended in the same year. A total of four vehicles were built.

Only steam cars were on offer . They had a steam engine with two cylinders . The chassis initially had a wheelbase of 279 cm . Four different body designs were planned. Two images show open touring cars . The original price was initially 1000 US dollars .

For 1923 an extension of the wheelbase to 292 cm and a price increase to 1,585 dollars were planned.
