Cruiser Motor Car Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company was founded in 1917. The headquarters were initially in Portland , Maine , while the plant was planned somewhere in the Midwest . Winthrop J. Burdick was President and DS Bobb Secretary. In 1917 automobile production began at a plant in Joliet , Illinois . The brand name was Cruiser . In September 1917 financial problems arose for the first time. New donors from Chicago and Madison appeared. WD Curtis became the new president. The company's headquarters and factory were now in Madison, Wisconsin . Production ended at the end of 1919.

All vehicles had a six-cylinder engine , which was specified with 21.6 hp . The chassis was 298 cm. Superstructures as a five-seat touring car and a three-seat roadster were common. A special camping roadster , an early version of a mobile home, was unusual . The accessories included a tent , folding bed , table , chairs , bed linen , toiletries, and hot and cold water from tanks on the running boards .
