Howard Motors Corporation was an American manufacturer of automobiles . Another source names the company name Howard Motor International Corporation.

Company history

John Howard Rees had previous automotive experience with the Rees Motor Company . In 1928 he founded the new automobile manufacturing company in Detroit , Michigan . He has served as President, LP Chittenden Vice President, HB Trix Director and RE Fremont Secretary and Treasurer. They acquired the factory of the former Acme Brass Works . The start of production was announced for April 5, 1928. The brand name was Howard . The vehicles were intended for export . 100 vehicles should be built every month. These plans could not be implemented. There were also plans to build trucks , but they were never carried out.

Production ended in 1929 or 1930, depending on the source.

A total of 23 vehicles were built that were exported to Canada .

Other American manufacturers of passenger cars of the Howard brand were: Howard Automobile Company from New Jersey , Howard Automobile Company from New York , Howard Motor Works , Howard Automobile Company from Michigan , Central Car Company and A. Howard Company .

The engines came from the Continental Motors Company . Two models had six-cylinder engines that were specified with 15 hp and 20 hp respectively. Two others had eight-cylinder engines that were specified with 24 hp and 29 hp respectively. The engine performance was higher in any case.

The chassis were available in four lengths. The wheelbases were 262 cm, 279 cm, 305 cm and 340 cm. Touring cars , roadsters and sedans were the bodies.

The new prices were between 615 and 2485 US dollars .
