Company history

William A. Sayers founded the company in Cincinnati , Ohio in 1876 . He made carriages . In 1877 AK Scovill became his partner. This changed the company name. A specialty was hearse . In 1906 a single passenger car was created as a prototype .

In 1907 the production of commercial vehicles began . 1913 supplemented ambulances to the range. Cars were added in 1916. The brand name was Sayers . The engineer HK Reinoehl came from the Allen Motor Company . John A. Campbell was responsible for the design. One source gives about 100 vehicles for 1917. Another source suggests that few vehicles were made in the first three years. The highest production within a year was around 200 vehicles. In May 1924, the company announced the discontinuation of car production.

In the same year, the production of cars started again. This time they were marketed as S&S . Production ran until 1929. One source thinks that in 1930 some cars may still be made to customer orders.

In 1942 a reorganization led to Hess and Eisenhardt .
