Winther Motors , previously Winther Motor Truck Company , was an American manufacturer of motor vehicles .
Company history
The Winther Motor Truck Company was founded in 1917. The seat was initially in Winthrop Harbor in Illinois and from 1918 in Kenosha in Wisconsin . The company manufactured commercial vehicles. The brand name was Winther .
In November 1919, Martin P. Winther announced that he also wanted to manufacture passenger cars in the future. In May 1920 the first vehicle was ready. The first public presentation, however, did not take place until early 1921 during the Chicago Automobile Show . Car production ended in 1923. A total of 336 cars were built. Wisconsin Automobile Corporation took over the construction plans.
The name was changed to Winther Motors as early as 1921 . In 1926 the company was dissolved. Kenosha Fire Engine & Truck Company is considered the successor company.
vehicles
The only car model was the Six-61 . He had a six-cylinder engine of Herschell-Spillman . It made 60 hp . The chassis had a 305 cm wheelbase . The only structure was an open touring car with five seats. The original price was 2890 US dollars in the first year of marketing and 2250 dollars thereafter.
The trucks had four cylinder engines from the Wisconsin Motor Manufacturing Company . Many had all-wheel drive and were used for military purposes. They were specified with up to 6 tons.
