Beggs Motor Car Co. was an American automobile manufacturer .

The Beggs family manufactured wagons in Kansas City , Missouri under the name Beggs Wagon Co. from around 1892 . In 1919 a company was founded to manufacture automobiles. SM Beggs was President , CF Hutchings and JS Lapsy were Vice Presidents, and Earl Akers was Chief Financial Officer. The brand name was Beggs .

Production ended in 1923. A total of over 200 vehicles were built.

The first Beggs was the 1919 Model 19 Touring with a six-cylinder, 25 hp engine supplied by the Continental Motors Company . As was quite common at the time, the vehicles were assembled from purchased standard components.

From 1920 the models were equipped with a self-developed, water-cooled L-head six-cylinder engine with 25 hp. The engine had a 3¼ "(83 mm) bore and 4½" (114 mm) stroke. It was equipped with a Stromberg carburetor, Connecticut Telephone & Electric Co. ignition, Exide battery, and an Auto-Light starter or alternator. In addition, the Beggs Automobile had a three-speed gearbox, a Stampar rear axle and 33x4-inch rims (84 × 10 cm) with Firestone tires. The wheelbase of the chassis was a uniform 120 inches or 305 cm.

The Touring models (price 1920: $ 1,775.00) had space for five people, the Sedan variant (price 1920: $ 2,775.00) for up to seven people. There was also a Sportster designed for four people (price 1920: $ 1,975.00). By comparison, a 1920 Ford Model T sedan with 22.5 hp cost $ 975.00.
