Curran Steam Automobile Company of America was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Frank J. Curran sold to 1921 steam car of Baker . In 1922 he founded his own company in San Francisco , California . He also made steam cars. The brand name was Curran . In 1925 the company was dissolved. At least two vehicles were built in total.

Frank J. Curran also founded a company of the same name in New York City on February 2, 1923 . The connection is unclear.

Another source names the company name Curran Steam Commercial Vehicle Company , based in New York. That must have been the company that he ran together with Charles Nebelmesser from 1928. There it was about commercial vehicles with steam engines, which probably did not get beyond the prototype stage . An omnibus is mentioned by name . One patent mentions a truck .

Car

The vehicles had a steam engine with three cylinders . The chassis had a wheelbase of 325 cm .
