Murray Motor Car Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles from Massachusetts .

Company history

John J. McCarthy took over the remnants of the dissolved Murray Motor Car Company from Newark in New Jersey in 1921 . In turn, it was the successor to the Murray Motor Car Company from Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania . McCarthy then founded the new company in Boston . He continued the production of automobiles. The brand name was still Murray , possibly Murray-Mac . The sales figures remained low. It is not clear when production ended. One source says 1928 at the earliest and 1931 at the latest. Another source indicates that another vehicle was built in 1927 and suggests 1929. The vehicles were offered until 1931. There are indications that 29 vehicles were made.

The Church Manufacturing Company had already marketed vehicles as Murray between 1902 and 1903 .

vehicles

It is possible that chassis from the predecessor company were used up. The wheelbase only differs by an inch . An indication of this is that a sedan from 1926 still managed without front brakes.

The vehicles now had six-cylinder engines with an output of 52 hp . The chassis had a wheelbase of 328 cm. In 1921 there was a Superb Six as a two-seater roadster .

A Six has survived for the period from 1926 to 1927 , which was available as a five-seater sedan and a two-seater roadster.
