Ambulances
As ambulances (commonly also ambulance or particularly military ambulances in Germany abbreviated as SanKra or Sanka called the Austrian army SanKW ) is called special two-track motor vehicles of rescue and patient transport . They are a subset of the ground-based life - saving appliances .
The following vehicles are ambulances standardized according to EN 1789:

Ambulance (RTW), with the following two special types
- Infection ambulance (I-RTW)
- Heavy-duty ambulance (S-RTW)
- Emergency ambulance (NKTW)
- Emergency ambulance (NAW)
- Ambulance vehicles (KTW)
- Intensive care transport vehicle (ITW)
The following vehicles are also referred to as ambulances:
- Handicapped transport vehicles (BTW)
- Baby ambulance
- Auxiliary ambulance
In addition, the military maintains its own ambulance and ambulance transport associations with corresponding vehicles. These are more or less special cases of various ambulances .
