Independent Harvester Company was an American manufacturer of vehicles and agricultural equipment.

Company history

The company was founded in 1904 in Plano , Illinois . It made implements for agriculture .

In April 1910, HK Holsman joined the company, who previously ran the Holsman Automobile Company . He transferred his patent rights to the company and became head of the vehicle department. Automobiles were made between 1910 and 1911. The brand name was officially Independent Harvester and unofficially IHC . Only the full name is used in a company advertisement for the vehicles. It should be noted that the competitor International Harvester officially offered very similar vehicles as IHC during the same period . One source suggests that Holsman deliberately intended a mix-up.

In 1918 bankruptcy proceedings took place. On April 24, 1918, the successor company Independent Harvester Company Ltd. founded in the state of Delaware .
