Townsend was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Guy G. Townsend lived in Winchendon , Massachusetts . There he manufactured three vehicles in 1905, of which he sold two. The brand name was Townsend .

The first vehicle had an engine with 4 hp . Guy Townsend kept it to himself.

Waldo E. Padelford from the same town accepted a vehicle with the same engine power.

Fred H. Holmes was also from Winchendon. His vehicle had an engine with 4.5 hp. The superstructures have not survived.
