National Screw & Tack Company was an American company.

Company history

The company was founded in Cleveland , Ohio in 1889 . It made screws and thumbtacks . William R. Hines, who had been experimenting with automobiles since 1902 , became the company's chief engineer in 1908. He started producing automobiles in cooperation with the Moehlhauser Machine Company from the same city. The brand name was Hines , although Hinescar has also been passed down unofficially . Production ceased in 1910. In total, only a few vehicles were built.

The company was later acquired by Monogram Aerospace Fasteners .

Only one model was on offer. It had a water-cooled four-cylinder - two-stroke engine . 114.3 mm bore and 11.6 mm stroke resulted in 417 cm³ displacement . The rear axle was driven by a three-speed gearbox and a cardan shaft. The chassis had a wheelbase of 269 ​​cm . It was designed as an open touring car with space for five people.
