Lowell-American Automobile Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The Lowell Motor Company had manufactured engines from around 1900. In the spring of 1908, the decision was made to start manufacturing automobiles. For this purpose, the separate company was founded in Lowell , Massachusetts in the summer of 1908 . The founders were Jesse G. Hanson, Moses Lahue and John F. Spaulding. In the same year the production of automobiles began. The brand name was Lowell . Production ended in 1909. In total, only a few vehicles were built.

The only production model had a four-cylinder engine . It was specified with 16/20 hp . The engine power was transmitted to the rear axle via a three-speed gearbox and a cardan shaft . The chassis had a wheelbase of 249 cm . The setup was a two-seat runabout .

Vehicles with six and eight cylinder engines were also planned.
