Palmer Automobile Manufacturing Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Herbert R. Palmer founded the company in January 1906 in Ashtabula , Ohio . In March 1906, automobile production began at a plant in Cleveland , also in Ohio. The brand name was Palmer . 300 vehicles were planned in the first year. In August 1906 the company moved into a larger factory in Ashtabula. Production ended in 1906.

Palmer later founded the Euclid Motor Car Company .

Only one model was on offer. It was a high wheeler . A special feature was the self-made single-cylinder engine . It had no valves . It is unclear whether it was a two-stroke engine . 114.3 mm bore and stroke each resulted in a displacement of 1173 cm³ . The engine output of 8 hp was transmitted to the rear axle via a four-speed planetary gearbox . The chassis had a wheelbase of 152 cm . The setup was an open runabout with space for two people. Was steered with a steering wheel .
