Central Automobile Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company was founded in 1905 in Providence , Rhode Island . In November 1905 it was announced that the vehicles were not yet fully developed. Automobile production only began at the end of 1905. The brand name was Central . Plans totaled 100 vehicles annually. Production ended in 1906. Overall, far fewer vehicles were built.

What was unusual about the vehicles was the rotary engine , which was also a steam engine . The engines were imported from Europe.

The smaller model had an engine with 10 PS performance and cost as a runabout about 800 US dollars .

There was also a larger model. Here the engine made 20 hp. The vehicles were bodied as touring cars . The new price was between 1200 and 1500 dollars.
