Amston Motor Car Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Charles W. Ams was a businessman in Bridgeport , Connecticut . In September 1916 he bought the Sterling Automobile Manufacturing Company . Then he founded an independent vehicle production company in his hometown. He began producing automobiles at a plant in Amston in 1917 , marketed as Ams-Sterling . HP Arndt was the designer. Production ended at the end of 1917. In 1918 the company was sold.

The production plans amounted to 15 vehicles in March 1917, increasing to 150 in September 1917. In fact, about 30 vehicles were built. Many customers were dissatisfied with the car.

The only model largely matched Sterling's Sterling New York . The wheelbase was lengthened to 279 cm. A four-cylinder engine of Le Roi with side valves powered vehicles. He made 28 HP from 2263 cm³ displacement . There was a choice of roadsters and touring cars .

A Royal Amston luxury model was only announced.
