Jenkins Motor Car Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

J. William Jenkins was a shoe manufacturer in Rochester , New York, USA . In 1907 he founded a new vehicle production company. The brand name was Jenkins . In July 1912, Jenkins sold the company to his chief engineer, Fred J. Decker, who used the plant as a dealership for vehicles from the Cole Motor Car Company .

There was no association with the Jenkins Automobile Company , which used the same brand name a few years earlier.

Only vehicles with a four-cylinder engine and cardan drive were on offer . First there was the Model 40/45 HP . Its engine was specified with 40/45 hp . In 1907 the wheelbase was 272 cm. The only body shape was a five-seater touring car .

In 1908 the wheelbase was lengthened to 284 cm. Now a town car was also available.

From 1909 to 1910 the wheelbase was 295 cm. The town car was omitted.

1911 saw a renewed extension of the wheelbase to 300 cm. Touring cars with five and seven seats and a roadster with five seats were now available.

The 38 HP appeared in 1912 . Its engine developed 38 hp. Its chassis had a wheelbase of 302 cm. The touring cars offered space for five or seven people.
