Pathfinder Company , previously Parry Auto Company and Motor Car Manufacturing Company , was an American manufacturer of automobiles .
Company history
The Parry Manufacturing Company of Indianapolis in Indiana was one of the largest carriage manufacturer of the 1890s. David M. Parry experimented between 1892 and 1896 with an electric car that did not go into production. In 1906 he introduced the Overland Automobile Company branded vehicles Overland ago. On July 28, 1909, he founded the Parry Auto Company in the same town. He employed 389 workers. In 1910 the production of automobiles began. The brand name was Parry . Planning amounted to 5000 vehicles in the first year. This goal was not achieved. Around 900 vehicles were built. On the other hand, there were high expenses for advertising and machines. In December 1910 the bankruptcy followed .
The creditors took over the company and carried out a reorganization. The new company name was Motor Car Manufacturing Company . According to a source, they chose this neutral name because they hadn't been able to decide on a specific brand name yet. WC Teasdale, who had a past with a Parry company, became President, GO Simons von Stoddard-Dayton Vice President, WK Bromley Secretary, Fred C. Dom and Frank H. Teagle other executives. The name David Parry is no longer mentioned. New Parry vehicles were built between 1911 and 1912. In addition, the new Pathfinder brand was introduced in 1912 .
In 1916 the company name changed to Pathfinder Company . Material shortages during the First World War created problems. In January 1917 there were rumors of a merger with the Empire Automobile Company . Production ended in 1917. In December 1917 it was all auctioned for $ 59,000 .

Brand name Parry
This brand name was only used in 1910. There was a choice of two similar models with four-cylinder engines . The wheelbase was identical at 295 cm. The Model 35 had a 35 hp engine and a four-seater runabout structure . The Model 40 with a 40 hp engine was bodied as a five-seater touring car.
Brand name New Parry
In 1911, the Bulldog was a smaller model than before. The four-cylinder engine developed 25 hp. The chassis had a wheelbase of 254 cm. The structure was called the Gentleman's Roadster . The other models technically corresponded to the smaller of the two previous year's models. The engine output of 35 hp and the wheelbase of 295 cm matched. Model 37 was a four-seater baby tonneau , Model 39 was a two-seater roadster , Model 42 was a five-seater touring car and Model 48 was also a five-seater touring car, but with a 300 cm wheelbase. One source states that a major difference to the Parry was the higher price.
In 1912 the Bulldog was dropped . The vehicles had a uniform output of 35 hp and a wheelbase of 295 cm. The Model 51 has been handed down as a two-seater roadster, Model 52 as a five-seater touring car and Model 53 as a four-seater Phaeton .
Brand name Pathfinder
In 1912 there was only the Series XII , in Roman numerals for 12. The four-cylinder engine developed 40 hp. The wheelbase was 300 cm. Are called Model A as a touring car, model B as Phaeton, Model C as Armored Roadster and Model D as Martha Washington coach .
In 1913, with the same technical data, it became the Series XIII , Roman for 13. The four bodies from the previous year were joined by the Model E as a cruiser and a delivery van .
Series XIV followed in 1914 , Roman for 14. The wheelbase had been extended to 305 cm. Phaeton and delivery truck were eliminated. In addition, with the Six , a model with a six-cylinder engine appeared for the first time . It was specified with 41 hp. The wheelbase was 340 cm. The only version was a Leather Stock as a six-seater touring car.
The four-cylinder model was discontinued in 1915. There were two different six-cylinder models to choose from, both of which were called Series VII , Roman for 7. The larger one technically corresponded to the previous year's model. The Model B was a sedan and the Leather Stock was a seven-seater touring car. The smaller vehicle had a 34 hp engine and 315 cm wheelbase. There was a choice of Model C as a roadster, Model D as a cruiser and a touring car called Daniel Boone with seven seats.
In 1916 there was the Six . The six-cylinder engine developed 50 hp. The wheelbase was 310 cm. Traditionally, Fremont touring cars with five and seven seats and Fremont Roadsters with two and four seats have been handed down. The Twelve was new . He had a V12 engine from the Weidely Motors Company with Overhead valves , 6393 cc displacement and 60 hp. The wheelbase was 330 cm. A LaSalle touring car with seven seats, a Cloverleaf Roadster with four seats and a sedan with seven seats are mentioned.
The six-cylinder model was discontinued in 1917. Nothing changed with the Twelve . The number of seats is not known for touring cars and sedans.
