The Sommerhuberbach arises in the northern part of the municipality of Bärnbach , in the northern part of the cadastral municipality of Hochtregist , southeast of the Sommerhuber farm and north of the Hochegger farm on the northwest slope of the Hochkogel . It flows first in a flat left curve and then relatively straight to the north-west. At the border of the cadastral communities Hochtregist and Kohlschwarz , it flows into the Ofenbach northeast of the village of Afling , northwest of the Sommerhuber farm and southeast of the Weglenz farm .

On its course, the Sommerhuberbach picks up unnamed watercourses from both the left and right.
