Wilhelm Beintmann (* 1889 in Frankfurt am Main ; † after 1953 ) was a German genre and portrait painter .

Life

Wilhelm Beintmann studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy from 1909 to 1914 , including with Willy Spatz , and is therefore included in the Düsseldorf School . In 1914 he took part in the exhibition for the 35th Foundation Festival of the Academic Association "Laetitia" in the Düsseldorf art gallery. From 1912 until 1919 he was a member of the artists' association “Malkasten” in Düsseldorf.

In 1913, Beintmann and Siegfried Bürmann, both former pupils of Willy Spatz, as well as Fritz Burmann , also a graduate of the Düsseldorf Academy, went on a study trip through Italy using a cart that they pulled from Innsbruck over the Brenner and in which they also spent the night. In June 1914, Beintmann and Bürmann traveled to North Africa and Spain to study. There they were surprised by the outbreak of the First World War . They decided to stay in neutral Spain. Bürmann became a well-known set designer and resident in Spain; Beintmann joined artistic circles in Cadiz, Madrid and Zaragoza and showed his work, studies from North Africa (7 portraits) and numerous compositions from Spain, including portraits, especially of flamenco dancers, in many exhibitions. Meetings highlighted the commitment of the German “Guillermo Beintmann” for “Spanish” ambience, country and people as well as the colors.

In the 1920s he returned to his hometown. Between 1923 and 1925 his pictures were shown in collective exhibitions at the Heinrich Trittler art dealer in Frankfurt am Main. He lived there in 1953.
