Century Manufacturing Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles from Missouri .

Company history

The company was based in St. Louis . In an advertisement, however, the neighboring East St. Louis is mentioned. It offered various things in the last quarter of the 19th century. This included pianos , organs , sewing machines and carriages . It is unclear whether Century made these things himself.

Automobile production began in the late spring of 1901. The brand name was Century . A fire two months later caused $ 7,500 in damage . Then the production of these vehicles ended.

The company apparently continued to exist after that. There was a trial in April 1913. WB Hamilton was the plaintiff. The people named are Alfred N. Schulein, Solomon Schulein and JJ Connors. Accordingly, there was a connection to the Winner Manufacturing Company from St. Louis or East St. Louis. Winner had delivered a motor buggy to Hamilton that he was not satisfied with. The court ruled in favor of the plaintiff. In addition to motor vehicles , Winner also made saws .

There were no affiliations with the Century Motor Vehicle Company and the Michigan Century Manufacturing Company , which used the same brand name.
