Belknap Motor Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .
Company history
The company was based in Portland , Maine . WH Chapman developed an electric car that was marketed as Chapman between 1899 and 1901 .
vehicles
One model was the car buggy . It had two individual electric motors with 0.5 hp , each driving a rear wheel. The wheels were 32 inches tall. The open body offered space for one or two people. The range was given as 32 to 80 km. This was dependent on the load and a possible additional battery. The curb weight was only 163 kg.
Other superstructures were at least offered, even if it is unclear whether they were actually produced.
