Spurr Automobile Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Charles W. Spurr Jr. came from a family in East Orange , New Jersey who made clothing and hats. He founded the company in New York City in the summer of 1900 with Cyrus O. Baker Jr. and Fred W. Baker . In December 1900 the production of automobiles began. The brand name was Spurr . Production ended in 1901.

The vehicles had a two-cylinder engine with water cooling . The engine was mounted under the seat and drove the rear axle via a two-speed gearbox. The structure was a dos-à-dos with two benches. Was steered with a steering wheel . The maximum speed was given as 38 km / h.
