Stefan Rouenhoff (born December 23, 1978 in Goch ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and member of the Bundestag .

Life

Stefan Rouenhoff was born in Goch / Kleve district and grew up there as the youngest of three sons. After graduating from high school in Goch and training as a draftsman, he studied economics (diploma) and political science / international studies (magister / master) at the universities in Bonn and Birmingham (Great Britain).

After completing both of his courses, he first worked as a research assistant at the Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg and then did a research stay at the World Trade Organization in Geneva. In June 2010 his professional path took him to Berlin to the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology . After initially working as a consultant for fundamental issues of medium-sized business policy, he worked as a ministry spokesman in the Federal Ministry of Economics from January 2012.

From August 2014 to July 2017 he worked in Brussels at the Permanent Representation of Germany to the European Union. As a commercial attaché, one of his main tasks was to represent the foreign trade policy interests of the Federal Government vis-à-vis the institutions of the European Union and to seek dialogue with the various social groups.

Stefan Rouenhoff was elected on June 29, 2016 by the general assembly of the CDU in the Kleve district as a candidate for the Bundestag election 2017 for constituency 112. On September 24, 2017, he received 45% of the first votes in the 2017 Bundestag elections and thus entered the German Bundestag as a direct candidate .

Rouenhoff is a full member of the Committee on Economic Affairs and Energy , an alternate member of the Committee on European Union Affairs and an alternate member of the Committee on Tourism . As rapporteur in the Committee for Economic Affairs and Energy, Rouenhoff is responsible for the areas of trade policy , industrial policy , the National Action Plan for Business and Human Rights , Brexit , taxes and finance, as well as electromobility and battery cells. In addition to his work in the committees, Rouenhoff heads the Africa Partnerships project group of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group, which was launched in spring 2019.
