Charmes is a central French town and municipality ( commune ) with 398 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Allier department in the north of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region . It belongs to the arrondissement of Vichy and the canton of Gannat . The inhabitants are called Charmois .

location

Charmes is located in the Bourbonnais countryside about 18 kilometers west of Vichy . Charmes is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Monteignet-sur-l'Andelot in the north, Cognat-Lyonne in the northeast, Biozat in the east, Effiat in the south, Saint-Genès-du-Retz in the southwest, Poëzat in the west and Gannat in the west and northwest.
