Weniamin Iossifowitsch Fleischmann
Veniamin Fleishman ( Russian Вениамин Иосифович Флейшман sometimes, Benjamin Fleischmann * July 7 called jul. / 20th July 1913 greg. In Bezhetsk , Tver province ; † 14. September 1941 in Leningrad ) was a Soviet composer .
His unfinished opera “Rothschild's Violin” (based on the story of the same name by Anton Chekhov ) was completed and orchestrated by his teacher Dmitri Shostakovich . The opera was premiered in Leningrad in 1968 under the direction of Maxim Shostakovich . The work was forgotten, which is why the teacher Shostakovich associates it with pity and anger.
Weniamin Fleischmann fell in 1941 as a member of the People's Brigade defending Leningrad in the fight against the German siege .
