Benjamin G. Lamme

Benjamin G. Lamme (born January 12, 1864 in Springfield (Ohio) , † July 8, 1924 ) was an American electrical engineer and chief engineer at Westinghouse.

He attended Ohio State University by 1888 and started at Westinghouse Electric the following year , where he soon became chief developer for electrical machines.

He received patents for generators, electric ship propulsion and a gyroscope ship stabilization.

In 1895/1896 he developed the generators for the power station at Niagara Falls, which was built under the direction of Lewis B. Stillwell . Here he was supported by his sister Bertha Lamme (1869–1943).

He also developed the power station for the Manhattan Elevated Railway in New York.

In 1918 he was awarded the AIEE Edison Medal .
