Benjamin Examiner

Benjamin Prüfer (* 1979 in Darmstadt ) is a German journalist and author. He is the brother of the journalist Tillmann Prüfer and great-grandson of the missionary Bruno Gutmann .

Life

Prüfer became known through a book that tells his own story: In Phnom Penh in 2003 he met the Cambodian Sreykeo. He fell in love with her, it turned out that she made her living as a prostitute and was also HIV positive. They married in Phnom Penh in 2006 and moved to Hamburg, where Prüfer worked as a journalist for the Financial Times Deutschland . In 2009 they moved to Cambodia. The film Same Same But Different (2009) tells the story of her life. They have three sons and one adopted daughter. During his stay in Cambodia, Prüfer worked for the German edition of the Huffington Post . The family has been living in Germany again since 2018, in Prüfer's birthplace Darmstadt.
