Bensonville , also Bentol , is a city in Liberia . It is the capital of Montserrado County .
The city is a market town and economic center in the hinterland of Monrovia , it was founded in the early 19th century by former slaves from the USA. Bensonville is located 26 kilometers northeast of Monrovia at 98 m on the St. Paul River . Before the Civil War, Bensonville was a developed, economically important city. Here was a concrete plant for the production of building materials and shaped stones, a mill for processing grain, a sawmill and commercial operations for the production of palm oil, paints, fish products and canned food. Today the city has around 1802 inhabitants.
