The Bentpath Bridge is a road bridge in the village of Bentpath in the Scottish Council Area Dumfries and Galloway . In 1971 the building was included in the Scottish monument lists, initially in category B. The upgrade to the highest monument category A took place in 1988. Furthermore, the bridge together with the Esk Cottage forms a monument ensemble of category B.
description
The masonry viaduct is located on the northern edge of Bentpath. It leads a side street in three segment arcs over the Esk . The central arch with a clear width of 13 m is flanked by two smaller arches with a clear width of 10 m. The masonry is made of quarry stone . Pointed icebreakers emerge on both sides of the pillars . The border parapets close with natural stone caps. The road climbs to a flat hump. The bridge was built between 1734 and 1737.
