Bentpath is a town in the Scottish Council Area Dumfries and Galloway . It is located around 33 kilometers northeast of Dumfries on the right bank of the Esk in the east of the region.
history
The remains of a historical settlement can be found on a hill northwest of Bentpath. Further desolations can be found to the southwest and south. In the early 1880s, the Westerkirk Parish Church emerged . The neo-classical Johnstone Mausoleum , built to a design by the Scottish architect Robert Adam , has been in the surrounding cemetery since around 1790 .
traffic
In the mid-1730s, the Bentpath Bridge was used to cross the Esk. The B709 touches Bentpath and connects the village in Langholm to the A7 .
