It was created in the course of the 2005 constituency reform from the former constituency Galloway and Upper Nithsdale and parts of Dumfries . Dumfries and Galloway covers areas of the council area of the same name with the cities of Dumfries , Kirkcudbright and Stranraer . The constituency sends a representative.
