Edinburgh North and Leith is a constituency for the British House of Commons . Before the elections in 1997, Edinburgh was divided into six constituencies, one of which, Edinburgh East and Musselburgh, also included the city of Musselburgh in neighboring East Lothian . In the course of the 1997 constituency reform, the number of constituencies in Edinburgh was reduced to five, but they only cover the Council Area itself.

Edinburgh North and Leith comprises the northern districts of Edinburgh including the former, now incorporated city of Leith . The area also includes parts of Princes Street with Bute House , the seat of the Scottish First Minister . The building of the Scottish Parliament , however, is already in the neighboring constituency of Edinburgh East . A representative is sent.
