Mark Lazarowicz (born August 8, 1953 ) is a Scottish politician from Labor and the Co-operative Party .

Political career

For the first time Lazarowicz appeared in the 1987 general election to elections at the national level. He applied for the Labor Party for the mandate of the constituency of Edinburgh Pentlands , but could not prevail against the conservative Malcolm Rifkind , who represented the constituency in the British House of Commons since 1974 . With little votes he missed the entry into parliament in the following general election in 1992 again.

After his party colleague Malcolm Chisholm , who held the mandate of the constituency of Edinburgh North and Leith , had won a seat in the Scottish Parliament in the Scottish general elections in 1999 , he did not run for the 2001 general election . As a successor, the Labor Party placed Lazarowicz in this constituency. On election day he prevailed against his five opponents and subsequently moved into the House of Commons for the first time. In the following elections in 2005 and 2010 he defended his mandate.

From 2007 to 2008 Lazarowicz served as Parliamentary Private Secretary under Junior Minister David Cairns in the Scotland Ministry . In the shadow cabinet of the Labor Party from 2010 to 2011 he took a position juniorministerielle for International Development a. After the SNP gained massive votes in the following general election in 2015 , Lazarowicz left parliament. The mandate went to the SNP candidate Deidre Brock .
