Marc-Frank Brašnić (born October 21, 1996 in Aachen ) is a German football player who also has Croatian citizenship . He has been playing for 1. FC Düren since 2020 .
Life
Marc Brašnić was born in 1996 as the son of a Croat and a German in the North Rhine-Westphalian city of Aachen . During his youth at Bayer 04 Leverkusen , he lived with a host family in Leverkusen . In 2014 he graduated from high school .
Club career
youth
Brašnić came to JSV Baesweiler 09 at the age of four and then joined the youth team at Alemannia Aachen before moving to Bayer 04 Leverkusen in 2007, where he played until June 2015. In his time as a youth player, he already suffered two cruciate ligament ruptures . In Leverkusen he attracted attention, especially in the 2014/15 season: In the A-Juniors Bundesliga , he scored 27 goals in 26 games and was the top scorer together with Schalke's Felix Schröter . He was also successful in the same UEFA Youth League season in which he was able to play for the Champions League group stage thanks to the qualification of the professional Leverkusen team: he scored five goals in five games.
In April 2015, Brašnić received his first professional contract in Leverkusen and joined the club until the end of June 2018.
SC Paderborn 07
In order to get better chances of playing in the professional area, Leverkusen awarded Brašnić to the second division club SC Paderborn 07 for the 2015/16 season . After Brašnić had already sat on the bench in the first round game in the DFB Cup as well as between the second and fourth matchday of the league competition, he made his professional debut on August 29, 2015 under coach Markus Gellhaus in the 1-2 home defeat of Paderborn on matchday five against Arminia Bielefeld when he came on for Marcel Ndjeng in the 85th minute .
In the following games, Gellhaus did without Brašnić, so that he was only used in the Paderborn's second team, which was playing in the fifth-class Oberliga Westfalen at that time - the change in the head coach position to Stefan Effenberg in mid-October 2015 also changed this initially nothing. Brašnić made his debut in the league on September 13, 2015 in the away game at SuS Stadtlohn , which ended 3: 3 and in which he prepared the goal for his team's 2-0 in the meantime; He scored his first goal on October 4, 2015 in a 3-1 home win over SuS Neuenkirchen , when he scored 1-0 in the meantime. He played a total of 13 games in the major league, scoring eight goals and giving five assists.
Aided by the suspensions of the attackers Mahir Sağlık and Srđan Lakić after 18 match day in the second division returned Brasnic for the game against Fortuna Dusseldorf on 21 December 2015 the first team squad - as the last remaining nominal striker alongside Nick Proschwitz - back and came on as a substitute for Idir Ouali in the goalless encounter in the 73rd minute . After the turn of the year he came under Effenberg to five more games in the 2nd Bundesliga, in each of which he was substituted on; Brašnić could not show a goal participation. Since Paderborn u. a. Had slipped to a direct relegation place, Effenberg was dismissed and replaced by René Müller , under the Brašnić no longer played. He was now used again for the second team and until the end of the season was no more in the squad of the first team that had to go to the third division . After relegation, the loan deal lost its validity and he left the club.
SC Fortuna Cologne
For the season 2016/17 Brasnic was in the third division side SC Fortuna Köln borrowed. His competitive debut for Cologne - and thus also his first third division and first game in the starting lineup in a professional game - he made on August 5, 2016 (2nd matchday) in a 2-0 home win against Werder Bremen II , in which he was in the 82nd minute for Michael Kessel was substituted. Brašnić scored his first goal in professional football on September 17, 2016 (7th matchday) in a 2-2 draw at SSV Jahn Regensburg with a penalty in the 59th minute.
FC Viktoria Cologne
On August 31, 2017 Brašnić left Leverkusen and signed a contract with fourth division club FC Viktoria Köln .
BFC Dynamo
After his contract with Viktoria Köln had expired at the end of June 2018, Brašnić moved to Berlin on August 24th to the regional league club BFC Dynamo. On the same day he made his debut in the league at 1-1 at FSV Budissa Bautzen in the starting line-up and came in 82 Minute replaced.
National team
Brašnić completed two games for the German U-15 team in 2010 , in which he scored one goal. Due to the lack of further nominations from the German federation for the U-15 and other youth teams, Brašnić applied for Croatian citizenship, which his father holds and, at the age of 17, played a game for the U-19s of Croatia in September 2014 . In an interview eight months after the game for Croatia, he said that he had not yet decided which selection he would like to play for.
