East Lothian is a constituency for the British House of Commons . It was spun off from the Berwick and East Lothian constituency in 1983 . Originally it covered the entire East Lothian Council Area . In the course of the 1997 constituency reform, however, a small area around the city of Musselburgh in the northwest was added to the constituency of Edinburgh East and Musselburgh . This was dissolved before the 2005 elections, so that the constituency of East Lothian now includes the entire council area again. The congruent constituency of the same name for the Scottish Parliament still exists in parallel. The constituency sends a representative.
